Who We Are
Sofa Era is owned by Julian Iragorri, who has about 17 years in the trade. His father has more than 35. Together, that's more than 50 years of taking sofas apart, getting them through New York doors, and putting them back together.
Behind the Scenes
For most of those years, the work was for the furniture stores rather than for customers directly. Julian's father was the independent contractor NYC furniture stores trusted with their deliveries. When a piece needed to be delivered, taken apart or removed, stores called him directly.
They still call. Sofa Era opens that same service to you, directly.

The Work Today
Most sofas don't come apart at factory joints. To get the back off, we usually cut the wood frame. We rebuild the joint with plates screwed across it, so it is stronger than before, then re-upholster it as it was.
You choose where the sofa is taken apart. With the On-the-Spot Fit, right where it is: hallway, lobby or curb. With the Workshop Fit, indoors at our workshop on a clean carpet, one sofa at a time, then rebuilt in your home.
