What makes the Montauk different
The standard Montauk measures 102 inches long by 40 inches deep by 29 inches high, and it's available in custom sizes beyond that. Slipcovered construction is the brand's core identity, the way it's built across the whole Montauk line, not just this model.

How we take the Montauk apart
The slipcover comes off first, before any work starts. The back is the part that usually comes off a Montauk, as long as it's built like a regular sofa under the slipcover. If it is, the method is the same: we open the back, cut the frame free, and rebuild the joint as we do on most sofas. What's left is a U, both arms and the seat, or an L when the entrance calls for it, the back plus one arm. The building decides which one, not the sofa.

Before you order
Montauk's own FAQ puts the measuring responsibility plainly: customers are responsible for verifying building and room access and all entry measurements. It also notes that most styles, including this one, can be delivered with the feet off, which trims 2 inches from the height (feet aren't removable on the Kate, Lily or Catherine models, so this is specific to styles like this one, not a blanket rule). The Tribeca showroom is at 42 Lispenard Street. Measure the whole route before you order: building entrance, elevator or stairs, hallway turns and your own apartment door. Our doorway and hallway guide covers the measurements that matter most, and we work across Manhattan every day, including Tribeca. Check the route with Will My Sofa Fit?, and send the Montauk's product link to the AI Quote Tool to see your price range.
The fabric
Montauk's slipcovers come in linen and performance weaves depending on the piece; the brand describes itself as high-end slipcovered furniture. Whatever's on your Montauk, we keep the tool pointed inward, away from the fabric you see.
Light fabric? Have it taken apart indoors
With the Workshop Fit, the Montauk comes to our workshop before it comes to you. We take it apart indoors on a clean carpet, one sofa at a time, then carry it in and rebuild it in your home. It's never opened on the sidewalk or a lobby floor. The Workshop Fit →
What it costs
- The On-the-Spot Fit: from $275. The exact price depends on your entrance and what the talk-through finds; the full range runs to $450.
- The Workshop Fit: double the On-the-Spot price, from $550. Stairs and tolls are added once, not doubled.
- Stairs: free up to three flights, then +$25 per flight.
- Same day: available when you book before 7 PM; otherwise, the earliest open slot.
- Montauk itself publishes no price for the sofa. What we quote is for our work, not the sofa.
